It shouldn’t take a year to launch the wrong product: how experimentation accelerates product development

While product development processes vary a lot from one business to the next, most of them have a number of things in common:

  1. User research and ideation comes first
  2. Design and prototyping comes next
  3. Testing and validation comes last

This process has helped create some of the world’s most loved products, but it also comes with a couple of crucial drawbacks:

Firstly, for a number of reasons, user research is often extremely limited.

Secondly, products are built before the ideas behind them have been validated.

Taken together, these drawbacks mean that product teams are often forced to spend colossal sums of money building products for which they don’t know if there’ll be any demand.

For a long time, this kind of risk-reward ratio was accepted as part and parcel of product innovation, but now, with the emergence of online controlled experiments, there’s a better way.

Sign up for our webinar on the 8th of June, where our MD, Stephen Pavlovich, will be talking with Senior Digital Product Manager at The Post Office, Mark Holgate, about all of the following:

  1. How experimentation is revolutionising product development
  2. Tips and strategies to build impactful product experiments
  3. How psychology informs the digital product
  4. Examples of experimentation-led product development
